Songs are escaping, even from the city. The more politically inclined half of the revolutionaries are taking turns throwing darts at a moving target. As for the others, they’re off picketing on street corners alongside the pigeons, and forging signatures on counterfeit legislative documents. Brandishing a baton, a policeman glares blindly at his cringing adversary. Seeing not but his own projections he swings once, twice, each impact fueling his perverted sense of authoritarian justice. The twisted heads and shaven features of the socially incorrect adorn the sidewalks like jewels encrusted on a crown of concrete. Some have turned to using tube socks as respirators, others chew on the knuckles of their right hands, forsaking their idle gestures. I followed a network of street lights and found myself in the central nervous system of a convulsing tumor, it’s milky residue dripping down roads like arteries and forming pools of pestilence in every piece of vacant real-estate. Here I rest until I may escape with my songs down the interstate of prosperity.
